What is a Session Like?

This is a tough one, since no two sessions are the same. The process addresses your current condition, not some script or rigid protocol. One person may experience a deep state of relaxation and “letting go”. Another may feel the release of a chronic condition. Yet another may discover the hidden healing architecture that their deepest self had been calling out for.

One commonality is a return to Center…to a state of wholeness. It is an opportunity to strip away the detritus we all accumulate in the process of living. Too often forget who we really are and confuse ourselves with our shortcomings or current difficuties. When we return to the Center of our being we know wholeness. It is the doorway to body/mind/spirit integration.

Here are a few examples

Easing the Pain of Fibromyalgia:
Vivian had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. She was a forty- something mother of two young girls who was chronically exhausted, achy joints, trouble sleeping. She was also losing bone density. Her condition had not responded to medical treatment.

She came to my t’ai chi class and felt better almost immediately. She then began doing sessions to speed the process. Underlying her shifting physical symptoms was a common problem: autonomic nervous system imbalance. Since the birth of her children she had forgotten how to relax. She was always on call and her body/mind forgot how to let go of stress. Her strong will allowed her to push through the subtler calls from her body/mind to repair and re-energize until the klaxon of fibromyalgia finally got her attention. Through regular sessions she was able rediscover the healing power of her own body/mind. T’ai chi and chi kung arrested her osteopenia and significantly increased her bone density.

A Real Pain in the Butt:
Joe had chronic sciatic pain, sometimes so bad he couldn’t stand, sit, walk, or even lie down without feeling it. It would start in his butt and sometimes shoot down his legs. Joe actually had what is sometimes called “piriformis syndrome”. The piriformis muscle in the buttocks is very important in establishing posture and it is also highly responsive to stress. When it is overworked it can become so short and thick that it inflames the sciatic nerve that runs next to it.

Sessions helped Joe to “switch off” his hypertonified piriformis and allow it to relax and lengthen. This gave the sciatic nerve some breathing room and allowed it to return to normal functioning. Joe also learned how to stand, sit, and walk so as to allow energy to flow more freely and to prevent future outbreaks. Back and neck pains also disappeared. Joe felt more vitality and was more inclined to exercise regularly, resulting in weight loss and generally better health.

Energy Psychology for Physical and Emotional Distress:
Melissa had been sexually abused as a child and despite years of therapies of various sorts, she still felt the effects of the horrors and helplessness of those years. It affected her sex life, her willingness to trust, and her peace of mind. She felt disempowered and vulnerable.

Melissa’s many hours of prior therapy had been valuable in helping her sort out her personal history and to see it in context. The underlying non-coherent energy patterns that had been established, however, were still active. They manifested physically, emotionally, and mentally in ways that dampened her spirit and created problems in her life. We used energy psychology (polarity verbal counseling and EFT) to shift the underlying energies. She was amazed at how rapidly she was able to see real change in her life. She could imagine actually “being happy.”
